Players will go on multiplayer Quest with friends or go head-to-head on an epic four-against-four battle against other Patapon clans with network play (up to eight players). Patapon is a fully customizable experience, with different weapons and abilities that combine music and dance to create the only multiplayer portable adventure full of rhythm and war.

The PSP face buttons (Square, Triangle, Circle, Cross) each represent a drum, which must be struck in accordance with an established rhythm in order to give instructions to an army of Patapons.[8] The main new addition being "Superhero Patapon," who acts as the player's avatar and is the character that physically beats the drums rather than the omnipresent god previously.
